Juventus became Serie A football champion, the first club lost the final of the European Cup six times, but coach Massimiliano Allegri said his team will draw inspiration from that and put pressure on Barcelona in the final Saturday and restore the glory of Italian football.

Allegri said after the loss Juventus 3-1 in the first final waged in the Champions League since 2003: "More than anything else we came out of this final more confidently and responsibly most of what we can do, I can not say that I am disappointed with the performance of my team."

In his first season with Juventus Allegri led the team after bilateral local league and Italian Cup win.

There were no signs that he or his players were feeling the weight of history on their shoulders either during or after the game despite the defeat of Juventus in the final now, more than any other club in 1973.1983, 1997, 1998, 2003.2015.

Juventus also won the European Cup twice, in 1985.1996, and lost two other clubs Bayern Munich and Benfica five times in the final.

Allegri said: "We are sorry for not winning, but I am proud of what the players have to do, we can get out of it playing in the European character of the tournament, was evident on the pitch tonight."

Allegri stressed that Italy and all feel proud of the team, who said he wanted to install his feet in the long term among the top eight clubs in Europe and erase memories stripped of the Serie A title after the 2005-2006 season.

He said: "we can improve our level more, not necessarily the results because that would mean to win the Champions League and also the league and the cup, we can improve what already possess and try to stay among the top eight teams in Europe on an ongoing basis, the most important goal for the team."

Juventus were stripped of the Serie A title in the 2005-2006 season and was punished relegation to the second division after manipulation scandal in the results.

Allegri said: "the enthusiasm with which people possessed in Turin, and enthusiasm for the team of all the football world is caused by only those who have played in Berlin, I am proud of what they've done."
